Aug 16: 120 Years of the Old Town Line
Running with historic trams on the occasion of 120 years of tram traffic on Hanauer Landstraße and Battonstraße on line 11V.
120 years ago, in the summer of 1906, the final sections of today's Old Town route were opened. Following the breakthrough of Braubachstraße between 1904 and 1906, tram line 18, which until then had ended at St. Paul's Church, could be extended step by step: first to Fahrgasse, then via Battonstraße and Hanauer Landstraße to the former Hanauer Bahnhof at the site of today's „Zobelstraße“ stop.
Together with the route through Kronprinzenstraße (today Münchener Straße), which was already completed in June 1906, the continuous east-west connection through Frankfurt's Old Town was thus completed. The fact that this route remains one of Frankfurt's most important local public transport axes to this day is also thanks to the commitment of numerous citizens. With their protest against the planned „rail-free inner city,“ they succeeded in preserving the tram through the Old Town in 1986.
For this occasion, the museum association „Historische Straßenbahn der Stadt Frankfurt am Main e. V.“ (HSF) is organizing special trips with historic VGF streetcars on this traditional route on Sunday, August 16. Vehicles built between 1963 and 1978 are expected to be used. Specifically, vintage streetcars from the Series N (1963), O (1969) and Patient (1978) expected between 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM every 30 minutes as line 11V between the Main station, south side and the Hugo Junkers Street via Willy-Brandt-Platz, Römer/Paulskirche, and Ostendstraße.

It is used by approx. 10:30 to 18:30 with historic streetcars in the 30-minute intervals as line 11V traveled on this route:

Vehicle use:
N-wagons (built 1963), O-wagons (built 1969), and Pt-wagons (built 1977/78) will likely be used.
Tram 11V Timetable
A ride on the historic VGF vehicles requires only a ticket valid for Frankfurt. valid RMV ticket or the Germany ticket required. These are not barrier-free Vehicles, most of which do not have ramps or boarding aids. There are no parking spaces for wheelchairs. Bicycles and wheelchairs are not permitted for safety reasons, in particular to keep escape routes clear. However, wheelchairs or baby carriages can be taken on board with the assistance of passengers or staff.
Boarding and exiting are possible at all stops along the route.
Please note that due to the traffic situation and for technical or operational reasons Delays and Changes to the use of vehicles and Deviations from the timetable or route are not excluded.
